Privacy Policy

Overview

racelottery.io is operated by Dead Reckoning Labs, Inc. (deadreckoninglabs.com) (“we,” “our,” or “us”) on behalf of race organizers such as Aravaipa Running. The organizer runs its race, sets the lottery rules and decides who is eligible. We run the lottery for them: we verify ticket credits, publish the applicant list and odds, and run the live draw. This policy explains what information we handle, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

You apply for a lottery through the race's registration platform (for example UltraSignup), not on racelottery.io. The organizer then shares the application data with us. That data can include:

• Your name, gender, email address, date of birth or age, and city, state and country.
• Registration details such as the application date and order number.
• Your answers about prior finishes and volunteer service, and the race and volunteer records we use to verify them.
• Notes the organizer or our operators add while verifying your application.

If you use the contact form on racelottery.io, we receive the name, email address and message you send. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. The site remembers your light or dark mode choice in your own browser.

How we use your information

We use your information only to run the organizer's lottery: confirming eligibility and ticket credits, calculating odds, conducting the draw, publishing results, and helping the organizer manage entries and the waitlist. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing.

The public applicant list

Transparency is the point of the lottery, so each race's page on racelottery.io is public. Anyone can search or browse the applicants and see, for each one:

• Name, gender, and city and state (and country, if outside the USA).
• Ticket count, verified prior finishes for the race, volunteer credit, eligibility status and estimated odds.
• Draw results: selected, waitlist position or not selected.

During the live draw and on the broadcast, selected entrants are announced by name, location and age. Your email address, date of birth, order number and organizer notes are never shown publicly.

You can opt out of the public listing. Where the organizer's application has an opt-out box, tick it; otherwise email info@aravaiparunning.com, ideally before the draw. If you opt out, you stay in the lottery with exactly the same tickets and odds, but everywhere on racelottery.io, including the live draw and the broadcast, you appear as “Hidden entrant”: no name, location, age or list of finishes, and a name search will not find you. Your gender and ticket count still count toward the public totals because the draws for women and men are separate.

Email and text messages

racelottery.io does not send email or text messages to applicants. Entry confirmations, lottery result emails and registration messages come from the race organizer or its registration platform, under their own privacy policies.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the service. They process data only on our instructions and only for that purpose:

• Vercel: website hosting.
• Neon: database hosting.
• Telegram: delivers contact form messages to our team.
• YouTube: if an organizer streams its draw, the video is embedded from YouTube and is subject to Google's privacy policy.

We do not take payments. Entry fees are handled by the organizer's registration platform. To verify prior finishes, our operators may look up public race results (for example on UltraSignup) by your name.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to the race organizer you applied to.

Data retention

We keep application records for as long as the organizer needs them to run that year's lottery, registration and waitlist, and to keep its ticket credits accurate for future years. Published lottery results remain part of the race's public record. You may ask us at any time to correct your information, hide your name from the public list, or delete your contact details by emailing info@aravaiparunning.com. Some requests may also need the organizer's action in its own registration system.

Security

Your information is stored with access limited to the organizer and the operators who run the lottery. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and only keep what the lottery needs.

Children

racelottery.io is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Minimum ages for each race are set by its organizer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
